About Tell Press
Tell Press is an editorial home and sanctuary for women weaving the threads of storytelling in languages that risk being forgotten. We believe that when a language is endangered, a specific way of seeing, feeling, and dreaming is at stake. Our mission is to ensure these voices are not just preserved as artifacts, but celebrated as vibrant, living contributions to the global literary landscape.
Why We Were Founded
The press was born from a deep recognition of the forgotten voices of Western Armenian women—their absence from textbooks and public conversations, their erasure from literary discourse, and the near-impossibility of accessing most of their written work. Historically, women have been the primary carriers of culture, passing down stories, idioms, and oral histories through generations—especially in the aftermath of traumas like genocide. Yet their role as cultural keepers has so often gone unrecognized.
Tell Press was founded to formalize that role, providing a dedicated space for the female perspective to act as a bridge between ancestral heritage and contemporary form.
Our Focus
We publish creative works that honor linguistic heritage while pushing the boundaries of what modern literature can be.
We are particularly interested in:
Endangered Languages: Amplifying the unique textures and rhythms of traditions that are facing erasure.
The Female Perspective: Highlighting how women navigate, protect, and transform their cultural identities through the written word.
Literary Survival: Ensuring that the vibrancy of these voices is heard by a contemporary audience.
RESTORATION & PRESERVATION
In addition to championing new works, we are committed to the work of restoration. We actively seek to republish out-of-print titles by women writers, ensuring that their intellectual and cultural contributions remain accessible and integral to the global literary record.
We Need Your Support
As a nonprofit literary press, we rely on tax-deductible donations to sustain and expand our work. Your generosity helps ensure these voices remain vibrant for future generations.
